Our Golf day was a great success and now we are looking forward to our next event. Our Grade 4 & 5 classes are going to show what wonderful entrepreneurs they are on Friday, 20 November. Their business plans are looking good, I'm sure they are going to make a good profit.
Robberg Beach is waiting for us on the 15 December. Anybody looking for a day of fun and/or exercise must come down and join us. A great day out for the family.
Our learners are tops when it comes to Academics, the Conquesta results are just absolutely magnificent. We had 30 Platinums, lots of Diamonds, golds, silvers etc. We are determined to keep our Academics high!
Our cricket teams are fairing so well, even winning against Oakhill!
Well Done Greenwood!

From the Principal’s Desk
Congratulations! Our children are just too magnificent! What a pleasure it was to experience the great “Beautiful Earth” Preschool concert and the amazing “Finding Peter Pan” Primary School concert. Our children and teachers all need a great big thank you for all the hard work that was put into each effort.
I hope most of the parents have already signed up for our “Friday 13” Golf Day. Pezula is really beautiful and it will be a wonderful experience for Moms and
Dads. Please encourage your friends to come along as well. Hope to see you there!
I would like to encourage all the Grade R parents to attend the SAMA workshop on Saturday 14 November. It should give you good idea of what our little Grade R learners are capable of and what is expected of them and the teachers.
Our Grade 4 & 5 learners are becoming quite business orientated as they prepare for their Entrepreneurs Day, please come and support them. They are putting quite a lot of effort into their business plans etc.
The Conquesta results are in and I am so proud of the learners, they have done very well and deserve praise for their academic prowess. Results and certificates will be handed out in Assembly on Friday.
I am sure you are all aware that these last 5 weeks are passing so quickly and in the Primary School we will have to concentrate on our studies every single day. Now that the concert is over it’s time to settle down and work hard each day. Please encourage our children to study and read every day.
Please make sure that you are all using the “My School” cards. Are you aware of all the different places where it can be used? Please ask if you are not sure.
Our classes are looking good for next year but we can always do with a few more learners so remember to encourage your family and friends to enrol their children in the best school around – Greenwood.
Greetings, Mary

What a Night

What a night” – to pinch a phrase! Despite the leading man missing in action for 15 minutes, the Greenwood pre-school performance of “Beautiful Earth” was a treat and those who got the chance to be there are certainly richer for it.
Two friends got the chance to explain their travels from outer space, through the different continents before finally deciding that Plettenberg Bay in the Garden Route was the best place to be!
Our planet is very precious to us all and our wonderful children emphasised this by sharing what they have learnt during the year. Planets and continents came alive with song and dance and the animals roaming around the stage enthralled the audience.
We have to compliment the fabulous teachers who put together this great event and adapted music and lyrics to fit into the theme. Who can forget the liberty of a Beatles song adapted to “We all live in the Garden Route”.
If you missed out – apologies – this production was another spectacular Greenwood event, making everything we do for our school very worthwhile!

From the Principal's Desk
Wow! Things are really hopping here at Greenwood. What a successful camp the Foundation Phase had. They enjoyed it tremendously and I have already had requests from some of the learners for them to return to Ingwe next year! Thank you to the teachers and parents who took such good care of our children.
The learners are all looking forward to the concerts. The preschoolers are doing all the last minute practising and the primary schoolers are putting as much expression and passion into their individual lines as possible. Once again we are in for a treat with the shows!
One of the most amazing moments this year was when we turned on the hot tap in the toddler kitchen to find actual hot water! This is all due to Gill and her Grade 1 class who took on this Eco challenge and put a natural hot water system up for them to use. Obviously it couldn’t be done without our incredible parents who were scrambling up and down the roof to do all the final connections. Well done!
Do remember to try your luck on Friday the 13th at our Golf Day, but, there is more to come. On 15 December we are having a “Beach Day” so keep that day open for fun, fun, fun.
We sincerely apologise for the fact that we had to cancel our Eco club. We will do all in our power to get it up and running next year. It is such a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters to learn about our beautiful area and how to care for it.
Please watch our calendar so that you don’t miss any of our events. Our parents support is tantamount to our success.
Enjoy and see you at the concerts.
Mary.

About the camp...

Other team activites included making lunch, dinner and breakfast, as well as washing up after each meal! The kids slept the night there and this was an exciting experience for a lot of them. When I asked some what the best thing was about the camp the replies where "sleeping out in the 'dormatories'..."
Thanks to the teachers and parents who helped out - and a big thank you to Ingwe for providing us with such a wonderful experience.

From the Principal's Desk

Greetings and salutations to all our parents and pupils. The last term has come all too quickly. This new term brings new excitement; camp, concerts, Golf Day, Entrepreneurs Day………….
Our first few weeks we’ll be concentrating on the concerts and after that it’s seriously academic time again until the school closes on the 4 December.
We appeal to all the parents to help with the lifts for sport this term as we no longer have the use of the little “school bus”. Our summer sport programme will be tennis, cricket and athletics. (Swimming for the Grade 4 & 5 Class every second week).
Thank you so much to all the class representatives and parents of the various classes that spoiled the teachers yesterday on Teachers Day. They were so grateful for the gifts. It’s so rewarding for me to see that the parents appreciate our teachers as I feel that each and every one of them are stimulating teachers.
We unfortunately had to chop down the pine trees in front of the school to clear the way to put in a tennis court – a plan we hope to implement in the not-too-distant future!
Friday the 13th – All the golfers are invited to prove that this is your lucky day! Bring all your golfing friends and come and enjoy a day at Pezula Golf Course.
“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
Have a wonderful term.
